The LS editor is only MOSTLY dead in 8.5. If it was TRULY dead, could I do this.....

By Andrew Pollack on 05/30/2008 at 04:08 PM EDT

So, how is it done? In desiger, right click on File Resource to create a NEW file resource. Name it something.lss -- anything with an LSS extension. The editor will come up. Be warned, however -- there is probably a good reason why its NOT supported yet. As John puts it, it is probably "Crashtaststic".

On the up side, I grabbed an LSS file I had on disk and popped it in there, and the class browser worked!

IBM has been VERY clear about the priority for lotusscript through their
actions. I think the fact that someone who looks hard enough can find anything
positive is not a proper substitute for IBM actually caring.
Surely that is an absolute show stopper for most professional developersBy sean cull on 05/30/2008 at 06:57 PM EDT
Andrew - I posted this on the Beta Forum in response to John Heads view that
the LS editor would not make it to 8.5.0

My initial impressions were wow and then this post totally dismayed me - I
cannot believe that IBM would seriously roll out a "Design Client" without at
least the same level of Lotusscript functionality as the existing client

There have been strong rumours that there will be no LS debugger - how can you
write LS without a debugger or is it just me that makes mistakes ?

On a positive note I like the idea of the search in designer and seeing the
fields at view level without having to open the form.

Also like the much more accessible docment IDs and the ability to copy these to
clipboard but some labels would be useful

Coming back to the LS bit, personally i would rather IBM didn't deliver and IDE
at all and focused on doing a complete job rather than deliver half a job

Oh and the concept of X pages looks awsome

thanks, Sean

"There have been strong rumours that there will be no LS debugger"

Pardon the language, but that is unadulterated bullshit. The LS debugger works
just fine.

Nathan, that the rumours exist on forums is demonstrably not bullshit, that the
debugger exists and is fit for use would be great news. Sean

"Bullshit" is a description of the content of the rumors, not your reporting of
their existence. I accept that such rumors exist wholeheartedly. I am making
an extremely strong statement about the truth quality of what those rumors
say. :-)

.... and promoting such rumors without some investigation is negligent
I take your pointBy sean cull on 06/02/2008 at 06:07 PM EDT
I take your point but IBM has not commented publically that I can see despite
observations by quite a few people - when there is a vacuum it sucks in rubbish
- why have a vacuum ?

With the current spirit of openeness ( Mary Beths blogs, a public beta, idea
jam ( although not really IBM ) ) a vacuum seems just daft
just to add a bit more ...By sean cull on 06/02/2008 at 06:10 PM EDT
if they said - look its the great new X pages but no "new" LS editor or nothing
I would be happy to have X pages

Similarly if I stiill have the same old editor and debugger I can cope fine -
its a missed opportunity but not a reduction in capability

The truth is, I haven't had much to say that was worthy of more than a basic social media post -- until today. For my current work, I was assigned a new laptop. It's a real powerhouse machine with 14 processor cores and 64 gigs of ram. It should be perfect for running my development environment in a virtual machine, but it wasn't. VirtualBox was barely starting, and no matter how many features I turned off, it could ......

Certainly it should have been addressed in the Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan administrations -- all of which were well aware of the implications of a pandemic. I want a military prepared to help us, not just hurt other people. As an American I expect that with the ridiculous funding of our military might, we are prepared for damn near everything. 3. 01/28/2020Copyright Troll WarningThere's a copyright troll firm that has automated reverse-image searches and goes around looking for any posted images that they can make a quick copyright claim on. This is not quite a scam because it's technically legal, but it's run very much like a scam. This company works with a few "clients" that have vast repositories of copyrighted images. The trolls do a reverse web search on those images looking for hits. When they find one on a site that looks like someone they can scare, they work it like ......
