It is a big event when a crew gets a new fire truck (an Engine in this case, as a "Truck" is for a Ladder crew). Our new Engine is a Ferrara Igniter chassis. Its a Class A Pumper, with 1000 gallons of water on board, class A and class B foam, a 1500 GPM pump, and all the bells and whistles you can imagine being helpful for a fire crew. Even air conditioning in the cab.
The engine will stay parked up at our West station for the weekend, then go out for the "On-Spot" tire chains (which operate from a push button in the cab, deploying instantly in bad weather), radios & headsets, a backup camera, onboard power for rechargeable lights and cameras and things, lettering, and a few other locally installed items. We'll probably cut over to it in about two weeks.
