If you are reading this, and will be at Lotusphere 2008 .....

Please make sure to at least wave and say hi. There is only one real reason why most people blog. Ego. If someone says otherwise, they're full of crap. To blog regularly, you have to either truly believe that what you have to say carries some kind of importance or you have to not care a bit. Either way, blogging is a clear indication of someone with an ego. NOTHING makes a blogger happier than to hear from people who read their mindless, poorly written drivel. If you read mine, let me know.

Finding me at LS is fairly easy. There are pictures of me on this site, but you won't need them. Look for someone who takes up way more space than their mass and volume would suggest. If you see someone who's 5' 9" (1.75 meters) but walks around like he's 6'4" -- that's probably me. If I'm wearing a blue t-shirt or sweatshirt that has a fire fighter's "Maltese Cross" on the front and says "Engine 1" in big white letters on the back, that's a dead giveaway.

What I don't do, usually, is hand out CULT shirts. Once the shirts are at the show, the sponsors give them out. I don't usually even wear one -- though I may this year.

I can't leave this post with out telling you how much it had me grinning. I
love honesty! Great post. I will certainly look out for the Engine 1 sweatshirt
and say hi.

PS; sweet comment interface.

I'll be the 6'6" guy standing near Andrew in hopes that he knows where the good
food is. Firefighters are so useful.

Sorry... Thought I read a comment from you (somewhere) where you mentioned your
badge color.

Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop drinkin'....

The truth is, I haven't had much to say that was worthy of more than a basic social media post -- until today. For my current work, I was assigned a new laptop. It's a real powerhouse machine with 14 processor cores and 64 gigs of ram. It should be perfect for running my development environment in a virtual machine, but it wasn't. VirtualBox was barely starting, and no matter how many features I turned off, it could ......

Certainly it should have been addressed in the Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan administrations -- all of which were well aware of the implications of a pandemic. I want a military prepared to help us, not just hurt other people. As an American I expect that with the ridiculous funding of our military might, we are prepared for damn near everything. Not just killing people and breaking things, but ......
  3. 01/28/2020Copyright Troll WarningThere's a copyright troll firm that has automated reverse-image searches and goes around looking for any posted images that they can make a quick copyright claim on. This is not quite a scam because it's technically legal, but it's run very much like a scam. This company works with a few "clients" that have vast repositories of copyrighted images. The trolls do a reverse web search on those images looking for hits. When they find one on a site that looks like someone they can scare, they work it like ......
