The new blogsite is here! The new blogsite is here!

Hi all. Just a note of welcome as I kick off the new blogware. Once again, I've written this from scratch myself as an exercise in web development skills. Comments and requests are welcome. There are about 20 features that aren't "live" yet, but I've gotten it to where its better than what came before, so its time to use it. I'm also about 2 weeks behind in my blogs -- I have a list on paper of 8 topics that need to be written about, and some are even technical. I promise, real content starts within 24 hours!

I like the new lookBy Greyhawk68 on 06/30/2004 at 08:42 AM EDT
Hi Andrew,

I really like the new look of the site. I especially like the new color scheme
compared to the old one. You should consider open sourcing this as another
blog template, I'm sure you would get some takers.

Anyway, good job on the design.

Take Care,
John
Thank you.By Andrew Pollack on 06/30/2004 at 08:57 PM EDT

The site looks terrific.By Carolyn Kraut on 06/30/2004 at 05:00 PM EDT
Nice job Andrew. I especially like the fact that the site doesn't expand and
contract anymore as I go from one article to the next. While I didn't mind the
colors of the last site, I'm especially partial to blue on the web - easy on
the eyes, and teal is one of my favs.
Thank you very much. It was way more work than expected.By Andrew Pollack on 06/30/2004 at 08:56 PM EDT

Looks great!By Bruce Elgort on 07/03/2004 at 12:56 AM EDT
Thanks for fixing the Search feature. One other thing I noticed is that when
using the Rich Text Editor there is no way to post your comments.

Sorry about the blank post above. Somehow I fat fingered something which
caused the entry to post.

Again - well done Andrew.

The truth is, I haven't had much to say that was worthy of more than a basic social media post -- until today. For my current work, I was assigned a new laptop. It's a real powerhouse machine with 14 processor cores and 64 gigs of ram. It should be perfect for running my development environment in a virtual machine, but it wasn't. VirtualBox was barely starting, and no matter how many features I turned off, it could ......

Certainly it should have been addressed in the Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan administrations -- all of which were well aware of the implications of a pandemic. I want a military prepared to help us, not just hurt other people. As an American I expect that with the ridiculous funding of our military might, we are prepared for damn near everything. Not just killing people and breaking things, but ......
  3. 01/28/2020Copyright Troll WarningThere's a copyright troll firm that has automated reverse-image searches and goes around looking for any posted images that they can make a quick copyright claim on. This is not quite a scam because it's technically legal, but it's run very much like a scam. This company works with a few "clients" that have vast repositories of copyrighted images. The trolls do a reverse web search on those images looking for hits. When they find one on a site that looks like someone they can scare, they work it like ......
