It's official (unofficially) -- There will be CULT shirts - Sponsorships are 1st come, 1st serve

By Andrew Pollack on 10/01/2010 at 09:00 PM EDT

There has been a surprising amount of interest in the shirts this year, so if you want to sponsor, get email to me quickly. I need to gather the sponsors over the next week or two so I know how many shirts to order. Follow this blog entry and the linked information to learn what you need to know.

Sponsor or not, comment here if you have a favorite!

You know the shirts:

The first four years, managed by Henry "NEWBS" Newberry, with Rocky "Lotusgeek" Oliver ---

2000 - "Notes World Order"
2001 - "Domino Survivor"
2002 - "Fellowship of the Domino Ring"
2003 - "Collaboration League versus Just-Us League"

The shirts I've done since taking the reigns, also with Rocky "Lotusgeek" Oliver ---

2004 - "CULT SHIRT ON HUMAN" (This one's my favorite)
2005 - Zen & The Art of Collaboration
2006 - Notes Man Group
2007 - I AM CULT
2008 - Pirates of Collaboration
2009 - Three Delicious Flavors
2010 - the Lotus Nose

What's Next?

2011 - You'll be singing it's praises.....

My Favorite....By Andrew Pollack on 10/01/2010 at 09:35 PM EDT
My favorite is absolutely the 2004 "CULT SHIRT ON HUMAN". It was a picture of
an old school Notes database icon, and clearly made the case for us Tree
huggers. That was the year IBM over pushed Workplace so hard, that almost the
only native Notes sessions were in the BP track. The big rooms were set up for
Workplace and were mostly empty but the Notes client and Domino Server sessions
-- relegated to the Swan, were overflowed two and three times. To me, the
shirt was an unintentional Frack-Off to the Workplace crowd and fit the mood of
the conference perfectly.

That one is my favourite too. I never got the first few ones, would loved to
have the Domino Survivor and the Fellowship ones...
The "I AM" one is also a favourite.

I hope to be there (although it isn't looking good).

I have a cute story about "CULT SHIRT ON HUMAN" -- I was in a restaurant
somewhere in Orlando one of the days after the conference and the waitress
looked at the shirt and said "CULT SHIRT ON HUMAN? I don't get it." Without
batting an eyelash I said "That's because you aren't part of the Cult!" After
that Lotusphere (with its abundance of Workplace sessions), it just seemed
right.

The truth is, I haven't had much to say that was worthy of more than a basic social media post -- until today. For my current work, I was assigned a new laptop. It's a real powerhouse machine with 14 processor cores and 64 gigs of ram. It should be perfect for running my development environment in a virtual machine, but it wasn't. VirtualBox was barely starting, and no matter how many features I turned off, it could ......

Certainly it should have been addressed in the Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan administrations -- all of which were well aware of the implications of a pandemic. I want a military prepared to help us, not just hurt other people. As an American I expect that with the ridiculous funding of our military might, we are prepared for damn near everything. Not just killing people and breaking things, but ......
  3. 01/28/2020Copyright Troll WarningThere's a copyright troll firm that has automated reverse-image searches and goes around looking for any posted images that they can make a quick copyright claim on. This is not quite a scam because it's technically legal, but it's run very much like a scam. This company works with a few "clients" that have vast repositories of copyrighted images. The trolls do a reverse web search on those images looking for hits. When they find one on a site that looks like someone they can scare, they work it like ......
