Credit where it's due - IBM Finally made the Sofware Access Catalog on Parterworld Useable!

By Andrew Pollack on 01/20/2011 at 08:37 AM EST

It's years overdue, and they've taken a lot of criticism for years about it (including from me) -- but IBM Partnerworld actually --IMPRESSED-- me with the changes to the software access catalog.

It only took about 5 clicks to find it from the Partnerworld login page (and you can make your own shortcut that gets you to within 2 pages of it). Once there, the minute I started typing my search term ("Traveler" in this case) the correct matching options dropped down and the top option was the latest version. One more click and I had my download choices. Checked the files I needed and I was downloading. The download manager even saved the file with a useful file name (rather than Z8411AD7.tar) without me having to beat it into submission.

For those who aren't IBM Lotus Business Partners or don't use Partnerworld, this process used to be a crazy painful one. You'd spend 20 minutes scrolling around a thousand bad options form a search page to find what you wanted. Changing search terms meant multiple screen refreshes and waiting and waiting.

This is the first time I've ever had something nice to say about Partnerworld.

W00t! I've been around those pages long enough to carry a scar. Glad to see
that it's better now

This is great, but it kinda falls into the same category as, "Hey did you know
you can set your default email font in Notes 8.5.2?"

You have to share how to reach that searchbox with 5 clicks! I'm impressed and
shocked :)

Although I bookmarked, my record was 6 clicks :)))

I noticed that a couple of days ago and I agree it is a pretty sweet
enhancement.

Certainly it should have been addressed in the Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan administrations -- all of which were well aware of the implications of a pandemic. I want a military prepared to help us, not just hurt other people. As an American I expect that with the ridiculous funding of our military might, we are prepared for damn near everything. This is not quite a scam because it's technically legal, but it's run very much like a scam. This company works with a few "clients" that have vast repositories of copyrighted images. The trolls do a reverse web search on those images looking for hits. When they find one on a site that looks like someone they can scare, they work it like ......

Thanks to the fantastic work by John Curtis and his team, the node.js integration with Domino is going to be getting a rich security model. What we know is that a user's authorizations will be respected through the node.js application to the Domino server -- including reader names, ACLs, Roles, and so on. The way ......
