Lotus Notes 8.5 Beta 1 - The Verdict after 1 Day
By Andrew Pollack on 05/30/2008 at 09:51 PM EDTI've been running 8.5 Beta 1 as my production client and designer all day on my desktop. It has proven stable and fast enough for me to decide to switch the laptop as well. I'm going to go into test mode on the servers next week and if all goes well I'll be using the servers in production -- including DAOS (file storage outside the NSF, without duplicates).
There are some oddities, but hell, 8.0.1 isn't all that stable and so far 8.5 Beta 1 isn't any worse -- and in some respects its better. The Designer in Eclipse is ugly as hell, and things aren't where I'd like them to be -- but it works well and there are some buried gems in there to use.
Google Calendar sync will be fun to play with too.
