Stormcam is up if anyone is interested

By Andrew Pollack on 12/21/2008 at 02:40 PM EST

We're expected 18 inches of snow and blowing wind this evening. I've hooked up a web cam out my office window, and cobbled software together to snap the pics and send the up to the web site every 2 minutes. A live, auto-refreshing page is available here:

EDITED: 12-22-2008 -- Took down the storm cam, but here's some pics of the aftermath:

It's awfully dark for 1pm. Maybe something broke?
You should cobble together some more software and add up time lapse videos as
well. Those are always awesome!

I stopped it once the storm was over.By Andrew Pollack on 12/22/2008 at 02:48 PM EST
Once the storm was over, I stopped it. I also had an issue with the server
caching the image. Next time I'll do better.

Biggest issue is that the snow didn't pile on that railing due to the wind. If
the camera was angled a bit different, you'd seem a drive more than 2 feet high
directly under there! LOL.

Here's pics of the results:

This is not quite a scam because it's technically legal, but it's run very much like a scam. This company works with a few "clients" that have vast repositories of copyrighted images. The trolls do a reverse web search on those images looking for hits. When they find one on a site that looks like someone they can scare, they work it like ......

Thanks to the fantastic work by John Curtis and his team, the node.js integration with Domino is going to be getting a rich security model. What we know is that a user's authorizations will be respected through the node.js application to the Domino server -- including reader names, ACLs, Roles, and so on. The way ......
