What buttons does your phone need, but not have?

By Andrew Pollack on 03/29/2006 at 11:17 AM EDT

I mentioned a minute ago that my Mute button didn't do what I want. I want to have one that mutes THE OTHER PERSON in the conference. I'd also like an "Assassinate" button. It would need to be specific to a single person on a conference call.

What other buttons are you missing?

Could I get a pause or snoozeBy Gab Davis on 03/29/2006 at 11:20 AM EDT
Just freeze time, the meeting and everyone in it so I could catch a few minutes
sleep and then restart

I'd like a Noncommittal Noise button that would make occasional sounds that
could not be construed as either agreement or disagreement, but indicated that
I was listening and not either snoring or drooling on the phone.

"No I won't fix your computer for free." and a "No, I won't teach you
everything you need to know about IT, do it the way I did and read a book."

Couple of ideas.. By Jerry Glover on 03/29/2006 at 01:34 PM EDT about?

* Pig-latin - on the fly translation to keep things entertaining.

* De-Buzzword - mutes all utterances that are in the meaningless buzzword
(and/or jargon) stopfile; might result in severe gaps, or even complete muting
of some particpants.

* Lie-detector - replaces all untrue statements like "Vista will ship this
year" with the simple phrase, "Bullsh*t!"

* Backmasker - listen to the call in reverse to detect embedded satanic
messages like "Notes is Dead" and "Ballmer rulez"

  3. 04/20/2016Want to be whitelisted? Here are some sensible rules for web site advertisingAn increasing number of websites are now detecting when users have ad-blocking enabled, and refuse to show content unless you "whitelist" their site (disable your ad-blocking for them). I think that is a fair decision on their part, it's how they pay for the site. However, if you want me (and many others) to white list your site, there are some rules you should follow. If you violate these rules, I won't whitelist your site, I'll just find content elsewhere. 1. The total space taken up by advertisements ......
