Facebook -- the fastest I've ever dropped a social contact website.

By Andrew Pollack on 08/16/2007 at 10:42 AM EDT

Someone please tell me what possible value is to be gained from this other than a nightmare of constant message pings telling me this one has added me to a "friend list" or that one has left his bedroom and moved to the kitchen or no longer likes the color blue.

I know what you mean, Andrew. It's shockingly bad.

What I particularly hate are the never-ending streams of "xyz has installed an

informed, and not allowing me to filter notifications appropriately.

I'm persevering for the moment, but unless they provide decent filtering...

LOL.. funny how different stokes for different folks. That stream of info is
what I love about Facebook. Anyway, you can easily change it, just click
Preference on your newstream, and move all the slides (cool UI) to the bottom.

IBM has made a deal under which the Notes & Domino software and intellectual property is now being developed and maintained by HCL America. HCL America is part of the very large "HCL Technologies" company that has grown from its roots in India to become an 8 Billion Dollar company with a global presence in the IT Industry. You could be excused for initially believing, as many people do when they hear this, that "they've outsourced the code to India where they'll milk it ......

If your company has ditched Notes and Domino, I feel sorry for you. For companies that do use Notes/Domino this is a game changer and Apple should be paying attention. Here's why: There are hundreds of little Notes client applications you'd never spend the time and money to build and deploy for your internal user base on IOS that we use Notes for all the time (those of us still using it). Now, those are suddenly ALL available on the iPad. ......

It would be wonderful to see them spread widely and eventually become the basis for something to rally around and become legislation. Update: 3/3/2018 I added #7, increasing the age to purchase.
