Firefox add-in extension that I'd really like to see

By Andrew Pollack on 07/12/2005 at 05:22 PM EDT

I want a "search" bar for firefox that calls google search, but automatically appends api commands to exclude a list of sites (particularly nextag, epinions, dealtime, pricegrabber, and that ilk that fills up the damn screen when you're searching for a review or a reference).

I may write a desktop tool that does that. It should be easy enough.

Just edit the google.src file in the searchplugins folder in your firefox
folder to add more parameters to the search. Or copy the file and icon, rename
it, edit it and have an additional search plugin.
brilliant! It works, too -- though it took some work.By Andrew Pollack on 07/13/2005 at 12:27 PM EDT
It took some effort to find information about the structure of that file and
how to append terms to it. The easiest way turns out to be simply to add
multiple q= parameters, as google seems to accept those just fine.

Now, I wonder about a community base effort to keep a good scrub list up....

Thanks to the fantastic work by John Curtis and his team, the node.js integration with Domino is going to be getting a rich security model. What we know is that a user's authorizations will be respected through the node.js application to the Domino server -- including reader names, ACLs, Roles, and so on. The way ......

This piece of garbage is supposed to be a bearing. It carries the shaft which drives both stages of the auger. The shaft passes through the bearing (which is what bearings do) after the auger drive pulley as the shaft goes through the back (engine ......
