To connect or not to connect

By Andrew Pollack on 10/14/2013 at 06:30 PM EDT

I am considering a change in my earlier decision to skip "Connect" this year, and instead submit a session proposal around SAML and other Single Sign-On techniques and technologies. I've done a lot of work with this and written my own SAML stack for Domino at one point, so I do have the information.

I'm curious to hear (privately) any thoughts anyone in my Yellowsphere crowd thinks about this as I've not yet made my decisions. I'm still a more than bit angry about last year, but I realize that is largely directed toward a source that is no longer relevant.

There is of course, no particular reason to assume such a submission would be accepted; however I would not submit unless I intended to go if it were.

I would be there to listen to your session. So that is at least 1 person in the
room. But I think many people would be interested in a in depth session on this
topic

Hi Andrew,

I would be there for your session ! Actually, we're looking for someone with
that skills to assist us in on of our projects ;-).

@Heiko, implementing your own SAML stack or get Domino SAML working? I might be
able to help you with the second part and we should talk offline of the current
feedback we have from customers in SAML implementation workshops.

@Andrew, I think we need a SAML session at IBM Connect!
We should have a show and tell session for implementing SAML at the conference!
I think I am not submitting any sessions this year but already booked flight
and hotel ..

Update, checked with Heiko offline. Really sounds like Andrew is a good match.
Heiko is not looking for SAML Domino implementations in his case.

Thank you, Daniel. I think that just making Domino "work" with SAML isn't
really all that hard if by "work" you stick with a fairly narrow definition.
The thing is that SAML is very rich and very complex and there is a lot that
should be understood before jumping into it. A "show and tell" is probably
not the best way for me to do that.

Andrew & Daniel --- you both should throw your knowledge together and go for a
SAML / Authentication related session @Connect14 ; I can not think of any
better team than you both.

I would be happy to hear details about your SAML experience!

We're looking at implementing SAML to authenticate Domino against our AD
infrastructure. I'd definitely attend.
Please doBy Mike Wissinger on 10/15/2013 at 03:38 PM EDT
This is my year to go in the company cycle, and I'd definitely attend a session
on SAML and other SSO options.

Please do submit this session. I would be very interested in your experience
with SAML and also SSO in a langer scale based on SAML. Can SAML do SSO between
Domino, Windows and web..?

The truth is, I haven't had much to say that was worthy of more than a basic social media post -- until today. For my current work, I was assigned a new laptop. It's a real powerhouse machine with 14 processor cores and 64 gigs of ram. It should be perfect for running my development environment in a virtual machine, but it wasn't.
